Abū Bakr al-Baghdādī ~ First Public Appearance

Last Sunday, June 29th 2014 A.D., 1st of Ramaḍān 1435 A.H., the Islamic State in Iraq and as-Sham, ISIS, established its own Caliphate in the territory they controlled in Iraq and Syria (see here).

As Caliph for the new Caliphate since 90 years they elected their over-all leader, the mythical Abū Bakr al-Baghdādī. al-Baghdādī was only known via an alleged biography, published on June 15th, 2013 (see here) and via two rather blurry pictures (one released by the US government (right), the second one leaked by the Iraqi government (left)).

As his official name the ISIS leader chose ‏أمير المؤمنين أبي بكر الحسيني القرشي البغدادي
(Amīr al-Mu’minīn Abū Bakr al-Husaynī al-Qurashī al-Baghdādī). Claiming his direct lineage to the Prophet Muhammad, the breaking of the Sykes-Picot borders between Iraq and Syria; he claimed to be the only worthy to claim the title of Amīr al-Mu’minīn (Leader of the Believers). Hereby ISIS (or the Islamic State (IS) as it is called since) claimed its supremacy over the whole Islamic World. Since, only a few groups have pledged allegiance to the new Caliph, yet it seems to be sure the Islamic State has burried al-Qaeda in Syria (Jabhat an-Nusra). As one could say: al-Qaeda is dead, long live the Islamic State.

After the proclamation of the Caliphate it was just a matter of time before al-Baghdādī went public; one just can’t claim being the overall leader of the Muslim world without showing your face.

Last night Facebook and Twitter were spreading the rumour IS would release a video or audio message by their new Caliph. al-Furqan media, IS’s official media outlet, tweeted earlier today (Saturday July 5th) that some big news would be coming up from the city of Mosul in Iraq. Not even an hour later the first pictures of al-Baghdādī were spread on Twitter. It was quickly followed by the first video of the khuṭba(t) or sermon by al-Baghdādī in the an-Nuri Mosque in Mosul.

Here is the first khuṭbah al-jum’a or Friday sermon by the new Caliph.

The appearance of this man was due to news of him being killed at al-Qaem city in Iraq. The media outlets that fabricated this showed a picture of a dead man claiming it was Abu-Baker himself. This was the main reason behind his sudden appearance at al-Mousl, Iraq, and he came in a large motorcade of 4×4 cars and pickup trucks; which included a mobile-phone-signal jamming car that made making a call for almost an hour, wholly impossible.

The duration of the sermon (or ‘kuthbah’ in Arabic), is a bit less than the original one: The last part where usually, the ‘imam’ would start calling on God (supplication part), is not complete. Also, it’s said that he deliberately wore a black robe and a black ‘imma’, or turban to signify how Prophet Mouhammed (PBUH), wore the same clothes during the victorious invasion of Mecca, or what’s known in Islamic history as ‘Yaoum Al-Fateh’ (Day of Liberation).

Its not right to say Al Qaeda is dead. They are still our muslim brothers. Its not a power struggle. All power belongs to Allah. Hes just the muslim leader who’s responsible for carrying out the laws of Allah and the muslims must unite under him as one solid block. This is because khilafat is the system of rule Allah has chosen for the muslims and after a nice approx 100 years of trying every other system and it failing in the muslim world has made this very clear. Doesn’t mean the other groups have no value, they are slaves of Allah and they will still do jihad for the sake of Allah and continue to play an active role in it. The ones who are dead are those who don’t remember Allah. Because Rasulallah saw said: ” The example of the one who remembers his Lord, and the one who doesn’t is like that of the living and the dead.”

Its not about crushing each other. We are all muslim brothers and sisters, its one ummah. We may disagree on opinions, that doesn’t mean we don’t respect and love each other.

    Rasulallah saw also said
“There will be Prophethood for as long as Allah wills it to be, then He will remove it when He wills, then there will be Khilafah on the Prophetic method and it will be for as long as Allah wills, then He will remove it when He wills, then there will be biting Kingship for as long as Allah Wills, then He will remove it when He wills, then there will be oppressive kingship for as long as Allah wills, then he will remove it when He wills, and then there will be Khilafah upon the Prophetic method” and then he remained silent.” (Ahmed)
