Mapping Syria ~ May 2014

A new Syria map update by Thomas van Linge

Date May 15, 2014

A lot happened since the last map was published; most importantly Homs, once called the capital of the revolution, surrendered to the SAA and Hezbollah. The rebel / Jihādī offensive in the North-Western province of Latakia was pushed back by the SAA and NDF forces. The infighting and ideological strife between Jabhat an-Nusra (al-Qaeda in Syria) and ISIS reached new heights, thus leading to some shifts in rebel controlled territory. Furthermore, the campaign by ISIS against Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan) is still ongoing.

This map was made by Thomas van Linge, if you would like to reuse it for any purpose whatsoever, please ask him via Thomas van Linge.

From now on the Syria map will be updated every 2 weeks instead of every month
