The last few days the internet is flooded with “information” on Jihad in Syria. After Jabhat an-Nusra and the Syrian Islamic Front (known as Harakat Ahrar as-Sham) conquered the strategic city of ar-Raqqa in Syria (see previous post), more and more attention is being spent on Jihad in Syria.
In these few days we have seen scores of new things being reported. Amongst them: so called registration forms distributed by the Turkish government to enroll members for an-Nusra (fake), we learned about some Saudi’s covertly financing the group (possible), we were confronted with some American ex-soldier who claims to have fought with them (possible) and so on. Above all,we have seen Holland raising it’s terror alert level to stage three (on four), in fear of possible Dutch Jihadi’s returning home. Suddenly the whole world is engaged with Syria because of Jihadi’s…
All of these last few media communications are, in one way, merely based on opinions and interpretations of unofficial claims about the most important group, an-Nusra. You can blame a lot: the fog of war, the ignorance of some journalists reporting or some sick strategy (either by al-Assad, either by his enemies). Anyway the mist is thick. What can you believe and what not, if some journalist pops open Pandora’s box of stories about Jabhat an-Nusra ?
The answer seems to be more simple than it appears. Jabhat an-Nusra has it’s own media channel (al-Manara al-Bayda – the White Minaret). The accounts, linked to it, post on the most renowned Jihadi web-forums.
What follows are the two most recent propaganda video’s by Jabhat an-Nusra, claiming and proving two succesful attacks. Both video’s need little explanation.
